Exploring Microbe-Environment Interactions Across Space and Time
The Colman Lab at Montana State University focuses on understanding interactions of microorganisms and their environments as a means to understand the co-evolution of life and Earth, how microorganisms influence ecosystem functioning, the potential for microbial life to inhabit or have inhabited other planetary systems, and understand the diversity of life on Earth. This research spans several different types of environments ranging from the extreme (hydrothermal, subsurface, acid waters, and hypersaline environments) and the less extreme (soils and freshwater environments).
